Where Chatbase is strong
Written honestly. If one of these matters more to you than anything below, they are the better choice.

- Genuinely multi-channel: integrations including Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Slack, Stripe and Salesforce
- Also works outside Shopify, which matters if your store is one channel among several
- Helpdesk ticketing, auto-reply workflows, live chat and agent analytics included
- A pricing ladder that reaches much further up-market than ours currently does
What merchants report as trade-offs
Published pricing, plus recurring themes in public reviews. Anything drawn from reviews is described as reported rather than stated as fact.
- Metered in message credits, and the entry paid tier starts at $40/mo for 500 credits
- Higher tiers scale steeply — $150/mo for 4,000 credits and $500/mo for 15,000
- Knowledge-base storage is capped per tier (400 KB on the free plan), so large catalogues consume allowance
- Being a general-purpose platform, Shopify-specific behaviour is something you configure rather than a default you inherit
- Newer to the Shopify App Store than the established chat apps, with a correspondingly small review base
The honest summary
Chatbase is an excellent product and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If you need one assistant across web, WhatsApp, Slack and email for a business where Shopify is one channel among several, it is the stronger choice. If you sell on Shopify and want an assistant grounded in your catalogue on one meter, that is what Pooch is for.
